Truth Text

Truth Text

I will always remind you about these things—even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.

2 Peter 1:12

Texting is a labor of love for me. I do not like to type and I’m not good at summarizing, as you will soon see. But with a busy college-age daughter, texting is a great way to communicate and truly a thing I do out of love.

I did not ever envision sharing this text exchange with you, but after reading 2 Peter 1:12, I asked Kali’s permission to do so. I hope your heart will be lifted by Peter’s words that inspired my truth text to Kali.

Sweetie, GOOD MORNING! While these thoughts are fresh on my mind, I want to ENCOURAGE YOU! My biggest regret in life is that I did not read God’s Word daily until age 28! As we talked before, habits take almost 6 weeks! Like Nike says, JUST DO IT.

I am sure you will be soooo blessed and awed at God that reading His Word will become A WANT TO DO! Please don’t get bogged down by underlining, and you can certainly decide what’s manageable—whether that’s just the New Testament and Psalms and Proverbs this busy year or just a Psalm and Proverb each day! FREEDOM is yours!

I am so confident that God will speak. I want to encourage you in any way I can so you can truly encourage others! We cannot piggyback on other people’s walks with God. Oh Sweetie, you have so many wonderful decisions ahead of you. My prayer for you is that you will hear God’s voice above ALL others . . . especially mine!

Kali’s texted reply made my day:

This so warmed my heart. I love you, Mommy.

We all need the refreshment of an occasional reminder to stay immersed in God’s Word. We can be givers as well as enthusiastic receivers of this encouragement.

Let’s refresh our memories daily in God’s Word and truth-text each other!
