Park ’n Go

Park ’N Go

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.

Psalm 119:18

Every time I see the Park ’N Go sign near the airport, I think, This is what we who are in Christ need to do every day: park in God’s Word and go out and live in His power and strength.

Unfortunately, many of us often miss out because we think we don’t have time to spend with God. But honestly, I do not know how we can see the wonderful truths in God’s instructions unless we make time to read and listen. We schedule time for everything else in life; let’s encourage each other to plan time to read His wonderful truths.

I am not promoting a legalistic obligation to read a certain number of chapters per day in order to earn a star and please the Lord. My hope is simply to shine light on the blessings and benefits that come from prioritizing time with our personal, mighty God who longs to fellowship with us. He actually delights in being with us! When we communicate with Him, He imparts His character and Spirit to ours so we can experience the joy of knowing Him personally, as well as receiving His power to live for Him. When we still ourselves before Him, we start to understand in new ways what Psalm 46:10 says about knowing that He is God.

Begin by picking out a parking spot. It may be a place in your home or your car or your cubicle at work during your lunch break. Then literally self-park there. Some days you may have fifteen minutes; other days you may have five. The point is, there’s a great deal of habit-building wisdom in disciplining ourselves daily in His Word. Pick a Bible reading plan, or start in the Gospel of John if you do not know where to begin.

Let’s ask God to open our eyes to see His wonderful truths. Learning to listen to God, spending time alone with Him, is life-changing, motivating, and invigorating. As we seek Him, He does the hard work of speaking to our hearts and moving us in obedience to live His way.

Let’s encourage each other to Park ’N Go!
