Our Love Liner

You were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11

When fall hits our neck of the woods and the leaves start to change, out comes my red Crock-Pot! You’ve already heard how much I love my slow cooker because it not only simplifies dinner preparation, it also fills our home with the most wonderful aroma of home cooking.

Until recently, I did not know they made liners for Crock-Pots. Wow! Now you don’t even have to wash the pot before putting it away. I certainly don’t miss the days of soaking my Crock-Pot overnight, then scraping and scrubbing off the caked-on remnants of food.

When I place my brand-new liner into my trusted Crock-Pot, it reminds me of Jesus. We are clean because of Jesus. We were made holy because of Jesus. We were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we continue to be refined by His Spirit, who is a Master at scouring the stubborn sin we all have in common.

Before knowing Jesus, our lives were like dirty Crock-Pots. Our sinful nature built up ugly layers in our hearts. Even if our lives aren’t always overcooking with wrong attitudes and actions, our lack of passion for the things of God will turn out mediocre results if we are not allowing the Holy Spirit to control us and keep us on the right setting.

By believing and receiving Jesus Christ, our Love Liner, we are made holy and clean for God. All He sees is a clean vessel, operating on the “Most High” setting. With the protective love liner of Jesus, God sees us as a brand-new Crock-Pot. (No, I did not say crackpot!)
