God’s Side Is The Good Side

God’s Side Is the Good Side

Hezekiah encouraged them by saying: “Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side! He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!” Hezekiah’s words greatly encouraged the people.

2 Chronicles 32:6-8

Hezekiah’s words greatly encourage me. I love being in the Lord’s army, which may explain why I also enjoy camouflage clothes—in pink and green, of course. Being in His army means we are always on God’s side and He is always on ours. He has only one side—the good side—and we are on it!

The process of choosing sides for teams always brings up bad childhood memories for me. Someone was always chosen last and although it wasn’t always me, I did not want to see that final person’s face. It made my heart hurt whenever it happened, and it still does. Maybe God has used those experiences to quicken my heart’s desire for everyone in this hurting world to be invited in, hear about God’s good side, and be quick to respond to the only side that is going to win in the end for all eternity.

We can trust that God’s plan is just and right, and that He fights on the front lines for those on His side. We can also live with bold courage, relying on His power in us rather than on ourselves. As we do, we will be amazed to see Him bless others in surprising ways as they observe Him in our lives. In fact, when we strive to live each day with vibrant faith in Him, God may use us to draw others to His side too.

God gave us His marching orders to proclaim the Good News to others! We can follow Him and His battle plan and gather the troops God places on our path, while we encourage each other in His Kingdom mission.

Let’s be strong and courageous on God’s side! If you are facing a challenge right now, know that He is fighting for you even when you cannot see Him or feel the benefits just yet. Ask some of your fellow warriors to pray with you for a victorious outcome.
