Our Help

Our Help

We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield.

Psalm 33:20

In 2011, the movie called The Help brought to life the stories of several African American maids in Mississippi during the 1960s. Many of those women brought a great deal of wisdom with them into the affluent—but needy—homes of their employers.

When I first heard the title of the movie, I kept thinking, I know the Help—the real Help. I have needed His help in the past. I need it now, and I know I will need it in the future.

Our Help is the Lord, and He is on duty 24/7. It’s not a matter of His being submissive to our every beck and call; it’s that He is available to guide, lead, and direct us in His wisdom.

We have help even when we do not feel like we have help, even when we do not welcome it. There will never be a time on this earth when we will not have His expertise and power at our disposal. When you and I have put our faith in Christ, we have all the Help we could ever need.

Do you ever need His assistance with

  • your children?
  • your husband?
  • your aging parents?
  • your dreams?
  • your disappointments?
  • your depression?
  • your anger?
  • your commitments and responsibilities?

We have His help for everything! His Holy Spirit indwells and guides us, as well as letting us know when we need to get back on track. He gives us the mind of Christ for direction about everyday living. And He gives us His Father’s protection, limitless power, and constant love. We are His dependants. Never underestimate what the real Help can provide.

Let’s help ourselves to the genuine Help! Bring a current need to Him in prayer and thank Him that He’s already providing solutions His way, in His time.
