No Failed Promises
No Failed Promises
Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the LORD your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!
Joshua 23:14
When Mark and I were first married, we fell more than once for the lure of advertisements that promised free gifts or trips if we would visit a campground or condo. We still laugh about one place we were strongly encouraged to buy so we could enjoy it for years to come. There was only one problem. Because Mark is so tall and the ceiling in the cabin was so low, he couldn’t stand up straight without hitting his head! Once the tour was over, there was no way he ever wanted to step foot in that place again. We had to hold back our giggles the entire time.
A few years later, we sat through another presentation where we were lured by a selection of wonderful prizes—a trip to Florida, a diamond necklace, and luggage. I could do without the trip or the necklace, but I had my heart set on the luggage.
When the presentation was finally done, I hurried over to pick up my promised suitcases. I encouraged Mark to help the sales clerk, since I knew the luggage would be too heavy for the tiny lady. Mark looked at me like I was crazy. “Oh, no,” the woman assured me. “I can handle them myself.” She disappeared into a back room for a couple of minutes, then returned with a flat, letter-sized package.
I couldn’t believe it. The small package contained three pieces of plastic luggage that unfolded like sheets of paper. Talk about a major letdown! And the alternative prizes weren’t that great either. The trip to Florida required purchasing a round-trip ticket, and I could not even see the “diamond” in the necklace!
Once again, it’s a laughable memory for Mark and me. And a great reminder to always be thankful to God that His promises never disappoint. He always proves true to His Word.
Know that every promise of the Lord our God has come true or will come true in His perfect way and time. Not a single one has failed, and He’s not about to fail you or me!
