Lost In The Kitchen Drawer

Lost in the Kitchen Drawer

If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

Jeremiah 29:13

When I lose something, I become a bit of a crazy woman until I find it. I pride myself on trying to have a place for everything and everything in its place. Even if a drawer may look messy at first glance, I know that what I’m looking for is in there . . . somewhere!

Has this ever happened to you? You distinctly remember putting something in a drawer, but the moment you really need it and go to retrieve it, it seems to be missing. Regardless of how long you scramble around looking for it, it is nowhere to be found. Then a few weeks later, when you are looking for something else, voilà! You find the thing you had searched so hard for before!

It was there all along, but it was lost in the clutter of that catchall kitchen drawer.

I think sometimes we cram our lives so full with things and activities that our relationship with God suffers. He gets lost in our clutter, and we wonder why we’re so disagreeable. We feel easily overwhelmed, and we start to worry. When anxiety sets in, we miss out on the abundant life found in Him and become weary in well-doing. We need to stop and recognize that His peace is missing but readily available to us.

God promises we will find Him when we seek Him with all our heart. He wants to ease the heart of that “crazy woman” mentality and replace any frazzled spirit with His peaceful one. Isn’t that wonderful and mentally freeing? Let’s allow Him to clean up the cluttered kitchen drawer of our souls. Seek Him in His Word and talk to Him in prayer, whether with eyes open or closed, while driving or lying in bed. He will always be found!

Read Jeremiah 29:12-13 and seek Him through His Word today. He isn’t hiding from us! His peace passes all understanding.
