Lipstick Miracle
Lipstick Miracle
“God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
2 Corinthians 9:7-8
How many times has the Lord refreshed you and me through the generosity of others? We could make a very long list!
One day, my sweet friend Christy told me she was getting ready to go to the beach and needed lipstick. (When you say “lipstick,” my ears perk up.) I immediately went to my lipstick stash and pulled out several tubes. The one she really needed was my brand-new, most favorite lipstick with SPF 15 sunscreen.
It occurred to me that if Jesus needed lipstick, I would give Him my best one, so I should give her that lipstick. But I did not want to because it was new. I quickly, by faith and not feelings, put it in a bag of goodies and delivered it to her before I could change my mind! The next morning, I missed it and felt guilty that I struggled with such a stingy heart. I did not tell a soul at the time, but now you all know!
That very afternoon when I walked in my front door, I saw a cute little bag hanging on my doorknob with a note from Sweet Faye. The note said, “Just thought you’d enjoy this.” Guess what was inside? A brand-new tube of lipstick—the exact same color with sunscreen that I had given to Christy! Faye had no idea about my struggle to give my best, but God did! I stood at the door and cried. It was a special delivery from God Himself through Sweet Faye! It was a true hug from heaven, a good and perfect gift that told me He saw what I gave and blessed me abundantly in return.
Our generous God hugs even reluctant hearts! Let’s be generous too! What can you give today in secret, leaving the results up to God?
