God Delights In You And Me
God Delights in You and Me
He rescued me because he delights in me.
Psalm 18:19
Psalm 18:19 reminds me of a day when God showed my daughter and me how much He delights in us as His children and loves to hear from us.
One afternoon Kali and I were window-shopping in a sleepy town with many meandering streets. We wanted to revisit a secondhand shop we had discovered by car, but when we tried to find it again on foot after parking far from the store, we couldn’t remember quite where it was. We had lost our bearings.
Knowing that God knew right where we were at that very minute, I just asked Him in a whispered prayer to show us the way if He wanted to. I told Him it wasn’t a problem if He didn’t, but I at least wanted to ask since He knows everything. Imagine our excitement when we “just happened” to stumble across the shop a few minutes later!
My daughter congratulated me on finding it, but guess who really deserved the credit? Maybe God tells us to pray about everything so we can witness Him providing and feel His delight toward us. We didn’t need to find the store, but He knew it would be special to us if we did.
It was like our big God of the whole messy world led us there for no other reason than because He delighted in us! Even if He hadn’t helped us find the shop, He still delighted in us and heard my prayer.
God delights in sweet you, too. He cannot help it. His pleasure in us is another characteristic of a perfect Father who loves each of His children in the most lavish way possible. His love never fails. His love is a constant for those who belong to Him.
We can pray about everything, since prayer is simply talking to God. He’s right here. God loves when we run things by Him that are important to us. He loves us, and He should always get the credit for His answers, whether it is yes, no, or wait. Revel in the fact that He delights in you right now!
