Double Your Fun And Faithfulness

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.

Ecclesiastes 4:9

I need other women with fresh perspectives and different passions to inspire me when I am in a household rut. We had to replace our kitchen floor because of water damage, and I was cautious in choosing a new floor because I could not visualize how the finished floor would look based on just the small samples in the showroom. The samples I picked looked ugly when I got them home.

All it took was some honest Sweet Monday women saying to me, “You need a black-and-white checkerboard floor in your home.” I never would have had the courage to pick that out on my own. They were exactly right, though, and the whole family was happy with it. “Two opinions are better than one!”

This outward example of the benefit of other perspectives can be applied to inward changes too. As we become more moldable to God changing us in every aspect of our lives, there’s a good chance we will become less stuck on one particular way of doing things!

Oh, how I long to be a different woman—sweeter, kinder, more patient, not as easily angered, willing to change in every area—day after day, month after month, year after year, by the grace of God. I want to be like fresh Jell-O, taking on the form God has chosen for me—not conforming to the mold of the world.

It is exciting to invite people into our worlds who are gifted differently from you and me. We can learn so much from each other, and helping each other succeed is God’s way of serving!

Call a friend to get you going in some area of your home that’s been bugging you. (Thank you, Sweet Monica, for helping me hang those pictures just right.) And let’s return the favors by being available to friends who may ask for our help. Now that’s true double-time giving.
