A Beauty-full Evening
A Beauty-Full Evening
I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
Psalm 34:1, NIV
Is it, Lord? Is Your praise always on my lips? Every time I put on my lipstick, I can think about You! This is something we all can remind ourselves to do. We need to put on lips of praise. As far back as I can remember, my mama and daddy told me that it was more important to be pretty on the inside than pretty on the outside. I’m thankful that at a very early age, I began to have this biblical principle of ongoing praise instilled in me—I just didn’t know it!
Two of my favorite beauty items are my Bible and my lipstick. At first glance, they probably don’t appear to have much in common, but they really do. Both are used to enhance the women God created us to be—applying spiritual beauty on the inside and physical beauty on the outside. I have discovered that putting on lipstick is a quick routine that helps me focus on God’s truth to praise Him.
As much as I appreciate a good night’s sleep, I always look forward to the next day because it gives my lips another opportunity to praise God! And when it’s one of those days when my praise list seems to come up short, I look around and begin praising God for everything that I see, the people I know, and most of all, for Him.
The next time we apply our lipstick, let’s make it a visual reminder for our lips to praise God. We can’t help but smile when we offer praise to our Creator!
Let’s start our own “Lips of Praise Lists” right now! (I think I just wrote a lip twister!)
