Revelation

IN PSALM 19, David delineates the perfections of Scripture and the impact of God’s Word. This is the influence we pray that his Word will have in our children’s lives.

The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul.

Lord, may ________ receive rather than resist the perfect instruction in your Word. And may ________’s soul be revived rather than burdened in receiving your instruction.

The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Lord, may ________ put his full trust in what you decree for his life. Make ________ wise as he trusts you with the truths he does not fully understand.

The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart.

Lord, give ________ the outrageous joy of discovering that everything you command is for his good and for your glory.

The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living.

Lord, ________ needs the insight that comes only from you to make his way through life. Give him understanding of your clear commands and a heart to obey.

Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever.

Lord, you are worthy of honor and awe. Take away any casual attitude toward sin and fill ________ with a sense of reverential awe toward you.

The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair.

Lord, while the world around ________ tells him lies, your word is eternally and perfectly true. Give him ears to listen to your truth.

They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold.

Lord, ________ has so many cravings that threaten this supreme desire. Give him a burning desire for your Word.

They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.

Lord, ________ has tasted so many sweet things in the world you’ve created. Give him a sweet tooth for your Word.
