The Romans Road: Part 5 Of 5

The Romans Road: Part 5 of 5

Bible Blast: Read Romans 5:1-5

Since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1

About eight hundred tornadoes touch down in the United States every year. Twisters are extremely dangerous, and you definitely need to take cover if one is headed your way. But did you ever learn about the eye that’s in the center of a tornado?

The eye is a place in the middle of a circular storm that is relatively peaceful. A couple of people have experienced actually standing in the eye of a tornado. One of these people was Will Keller, from Greensburg, Kansas. In 1928, a tornado was coming toward his house, so he put his family in the storm shelter while he stayed outside to observe the violent storm. (I’m not sure that was a great idea.) Somehow he managed to hold his ground as the twister surrounded him. He said when he was in the center of it, he noticed that everything was really still. Isn’t it magnificent that something so terrible and destructive could have a place of total stillness right in the middle of it?

That still, safe center of the storm is a lot like God’s peace. His peace doesn’t promise there will be no storms or hard times in our lives. But it does promise strength during any circumstance because he loves us and we have the promise of heaven. Philippians 4:7 tells us that God’s peace is still there when we don’t understand what’s going on in our lives. It also says that his peace guards our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.

A girl who puts her faith in Jesus gets to share in this amazing peace with God. Whatever happens in her life, whether she gets an A on a test or fails a quiz, she can be confident that God is with her. She has peace knowing God has forgiven her, and she has peace knowing he’ll never leave her, no matter what.

Girl Gab: Mom, talk about a time when you were in the “eye” of a “storm” in your life—when you knew that God’s peace was protecting you and giving you calmness, even though circumstances were difficult. Daughter, is there anything in your life right now that is making you feel fearful? Pray that God would give you his peace.
