Perfect Timing

Bible Blast: Read Proverbs 30:18-19

Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right. Song of Songs 2:7

Have you ever stood and watched an eagle or hawk or some other kind of bird flying through the air? Do you ever get amazed by its grace and beauty—and by the perfection of its design? God designed these creatures to be completely aerodynamic. That’s a miracle.

So how do you feel about snakes? They’re not my favorite animal, but I can’t deny that when I see one move along the ground, I can’t stop staring. They don’t have any legs or arms, but they still move perfectly. Their muscles move in such a way that they can slither around just about anywhere.

And I’ll never understand all the science that goes into building a boat, especially those cruise ships! How do those gigantic structures float so effortlessly on top of the water?

The writer of today’s Bible Blast found eagles, snakes, and boats amazing too. Then he listed one more thing that he didn’t totally understand. His mind had a hard time understanding the love between a man and a woman.

Romantic love is wild, isn’t it? Two people are going through life separately. They encounter lots of other people and have lots of friends. But one day they meet each other, and something’s different—special. They start to feel all “twitterpated” like the springtime animals in the movie Bambi.

Falling in love is such a beautiful mystery, but it’s not something you need to be worrying about or even thinking about right now. You’re at a great age right now. You get to have fun with your friends. You’re figuring out what music you like and what your personal style is. You can go to sleepovers and stay up all night laughing until your stomach hurts. You’re growing in your faith every day and figuring out why you believe what you believe. It’s a fabulous time!

If you love Jesus and live for him, some day you just might fall in love and it will be in God’s perfect timing. Like the focus verse says, don’t rush into it. There’s plenty of time for getting “twitterpated.” For now, just be God’s girl!
