Meditation Moment: Psalm 4

Meditation Moment: Psalm 4

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe. Psalm 4:8

As a growing girl, you need to get your sleep. Most doctors would say that tweens should get between nine and eleven hours of sleep every night. Getting a good amount of sleep will help you be more attentive and have more energy. Your mind and body need the rest to get ready for the next day.

If you have trouble sleeping, here are some things you can try:

Do something relaxing before it’s time to go to bed, like taking a hot bath, reading a relaxing book, writing in a journal, or listening to soft music.

Don’t eat sugary stuff or have caffeine after dinner.

Don’t get too involved in tons of activities. Doing too much can get you too stimulated, making it difficult to get your mind and body to slow down and go to sleep.

Sleep is the main topic of today’s Meditation Moment verse. Before you begin to meditate on it, pray that God would speak to you through it. Read over it a few times and wait for God to show you a truth about Psalm 4:8. Once you feel like he’s spoken to you through an idea, thought, picture, or some other way, write it down.

You know what? Meditating on Scripture is another great way to get ready for bed.

Girl Gab: Show your mom what you’ve learned. Talk to her about how you sleep. Do you need to make any changes to help you get the rest you need? Have your mom pray that you would be blessed with peace while you sleep.
