Meditation Moment: John 3

All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.

John 3:20-21

Have you ever driven past a big city at night? From a distance, it looks like a glowing world of all different colors and types of lights. The streetlights, headlights, neon lights from signs, and lights on skyscrapers appear so sparkly. In the dark you don’t see all the garbage on the streets. From the car you don’t smell the pollution from the factories or cars. You don’t hear rude people yelling at other people because they’re not moving fast enough. The darkness of night hides all the ugly stuff that can go on in a city. But if you were to drive into that city during the day, nothing would be hidden because nothing can hide in the light. The problems would all be exposed.

As you meditate on John 3:20-21, think about the difference between the light and the darkness. Pray and ask God to speak to you today through these verses. Read over the verses a few times, and then wait to see what God teaches you. You can write down what you’ve learned by drawing a picture or writing a prayer.
