Meditation Moment: Isaiah 6

Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah 6:8

Yesterday you learned about how Isaiah responded when he was face to face with God’s glory and perfection. Today you’re going to meditate on his response when God asked him a very important question: “Who will go?” God needed someone to go be a representative for him. The Lord said, “Who will go for us?” because he was referring to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Something I want you to remember as you meditate on this verse today is that right before God asked this life-changing question of “Who will go?” Isaiah had just experienced God’s forgiveness for his “potty mouth.” He knew he had been completely forgiven. He didn’t answer this question with, “Well, Lord, I know you forgave me and everything, but my lips might still be dirty, so you had better find someone else for the job.” Instead, Isaiah said, “Here I am. Send me.”

When we confess our sins and God forgives us, that’s it. It’s a done deal. It’s the final answer. You don’t have to wonder if you are ready to serve him. You are!

You know the meditation drill by now. Stop and pray, asking God to speak to you through this Scripture today. Read over it a few times and then silently wait for God to speak to you. Write down whatever comes into your mind about Isaiah 6:8, whether it’s an idea, thought, picture, or memory.
