Love Your Hubbie
Bible Blast: Read Proverbs 31:10-12
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
Proverbs 31:12
Did you know that you can start becoming a great wife right now? Read today’s focus verse out loud one more time. Did you notice the words “all the days of her life”? That’s right. God wants you to do good for your husband today, even if he is a husband in the future.
That’s what Delores Cummings of Lindale, Texas, did. (Shout out to all my Texas friends!) She was only a girl herself when she prayed a really important prayer for her husband. Church bells rang, reminding everyone in town to pray for the young soldiers who were trapped in the Battle of the Bulge. Delores remembers feeling something in her spirit say, “Your future husband is in that battle—pray.” So she did.
Then she pretty much forgot about the prayer.
When she was older, she met a guy named Robert. They began to date and were eventually married. It would be years before he recounted to her a tragic scene from his past. He had in fact been trapped in the Battle of the Bulge and remembered lying wounded, face down in a beet field. He heard the German soldiers coming through and shoving their sharp bayonets into his wounded friends to kill them, but for some reason they just stepped over Robert’s body. Delores remembered her prayer and thanked God for answering it.
It might seem like a long time until you meet your husband, and it probably should. All the boy craziness that surrounds you is just that—crazy. One way that you can do your future husband good is to avoid the boy-crazy mentality. You can be a girl who chooses to dream of a pure and romantic future. Wait faithfully for the right time to meet him, and ask God for strength to do that. (It is possible that God will ask you to be single, but most girls will marry.)
Start doing your husband good today!
Girl Gab: Daughter, talk with your mom about your dreams for when you grow up. Make sure she shares some of her childhood dreams too! Pray for your future husband, if you feel led to do so.
