Are You Awake?

Bible Blast: Read Romans 13:8-12

This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. Romans 13:11

Are you a morning person? Do you hop out of bed right away because you can’t wait to start the day? Do you set your alarm to get up a little earlier because you want to read or do a craft? It’s great if you’re a person who loves the mornings, but not everyone is like that. Some people sleep right through regular alarm clock buzzing, so they have to get a clock with a little more kick. As it turns out, there are a lot of funky alarms to choose from.

What’s better than waking to the smell of bacon cooking on the stove? You can get an alarm clock that actually cooks bacon for you. You put a piece of frozen bacon in it before bed at night, and it will start cooking ten minutes before you want to get up.

“Clocky” is an alarm clock that rolls off your nightstand and looks for a place to hide in the room if you don’t get up right away to turn off his alarm. You have to get up and find him to make him stop buzzing.

If neither of those alarm clocks gets you out of bed on time, maybe you need something more “shocking.” That’s right; you can get a clock that shocks your hand every time you hit the snooze button. Apparently it’s harmless, but what a horrible way to wake up!

Waking up can be hard, but we have to do it. We even need to wake up in our relationship with God because Jesus is coming back and time is running short. Just think! If we thought Jesus was coming back tomorrow, how would we live today? That’s how we should live every day. It’s kind of like getting your chores done now because your mom’s going to be home soon. You’re going to make sure they’re done, right?

Obey God’s Word today and every day. Then when Jesus comes back, you’ll be ready.

Girl Gab: If it’s hard for you to get out of bed in the morning, talk to your mom about what you can do to change that. Maybe you need to put your alarm clock on the other side of the room so you have to get out from under the comfy covers to stop its ringing. Ask Jesus to help you live as if he’s coming back today.
