What principles should guide my work?

God’s Response

Whatever you do, do well. Ecclesiastes 9:10

Do not cheat or rob anyone. Always pay your hired workers promptly. Leviticus 19:13

The LORD demands fairness in every business deal; he sets the standard. Proverbs 16:11

At its best, work honors God and brings meaning and joy to life. We should emulate the character traits we see in God’s work, such as excellence, concern for the well-being of others, purpose, beauty, and service. When you have the perspective that you are actually working for God, it takes the focus away from the task and onto why you are doing it —to help people know God. The excitement and interest that come from working for God are not primarily from the work but from the One for whom we do the work.

God’s Challenge

Yes, use honest weights and measures, so that you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Those who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 25:15-16
