How should I handle tragedy?

God’s Response

People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a snare, people are often caught by sudden tragedy. Ecclesiastes 9:12

LORD, be merciful to us, for we have waited for you. Be our strength each day and our salvation in times of trouble. Isaiah 33:2

Disaster strikes like a cyclone, whirling the wicked away, but the godly have a lasting foundation. Proverbs 10:25

Sometimes the suffering that comes to us through tragedy is not our fault. It just happens. How we react to suffering is critical. We live in a fallen world where sin is often allowed to run its course, affecting both believers and nonbelievers (Matthew 5:45). God doesn’t want to see us suffer, but the great message of the Bible is that he promises to bring renewal, healing, and spiritual maturity through it so that we can be stronger and better equipped to help others and to live with purpose and meaning.

God’s Promise

You need not be afraid of disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the LORD is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Proverbs 3:25-26
