Thought Life

Thought Life

How are my actions affected by my thoughts?

God’s Response

With the Lord’s authority let me say this: Live no longer as the ungodly do, for they are hopelessly confused. . . . They don’t care anymore about right and wrong, and they have given themselves over to immoral ways. Their lives are filled with all kinds of impurity and greed. . . . Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God’s likeness —righteous, holy, and true. Ephesians 4:17, 19, 23-24

If you are wise and understand God’s ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth. James 3:13

The seeds of your actions, both good and bad, are planted in your mind and heart. If you want your actions to be godly, then nurture godly thoughts. It is helpful to meditate on good and pure things as soon as any bad thoughts come to mind. By immediately focusing on God, you can replace bad thoughts with good ones. It is worthwhile to keep your mind pure so you won’t gradually be lured into darkness and confusion.

God’s Promise

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3
