Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed

How do I cope when life’s pain becomes overwhelming?

God’s Response

Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles. Psalm 55:2

Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the LORD rescue you.” Exodus 14:13

Some wandered in the desert, lost and homeless. Hungry and thirsty, they nearly died. “LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress. He led them straight to safety, to a city where they could live. Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for all his wonderful deeds to them. Psalm 107:4-8

When we try to cope with problems in our own strength, we can be overwhelmed. We soon recognize that we need someone bigger and stronger to help us. Our greatest source of help is almighty God, who accomplishes the impossible. When we focus on God, we become aware of his power and stop being preoccupied with ourselves. We can cope when God’s strength replaces our weakness. Our impossibilities are God’s opportunities.

God’s Promise

He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:9
