Money

What is a proper perspective toward money?

God’s Response

No one can serve two masters. . . . You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24

Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

How do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul? Mark 8:36-37

Money can be valuable in helping to get God’s work done on earth, so money itself is not evil —but the love of money can be. Money is dangerous when it deceives us into thinking that wealth will solve all of our problems. The love of money is sinful when we trust it, rather than God, for our security. Since God gave you the ability to make money, it really belongs to him. The crucial question is not how much of your money you should give to God, but how much of God’s money you should keep.

God’s Promise

Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything your land produces. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with the finest wine. Proverbs 3:9-10
