Gentleness

Gentleness

How did Jesus demonstrate gentleness?

God’s Response

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young. Isaiah 40:11

He felt great pity for the crowds that came, because their problems were so great and they didn’t know where to go for help. Matthew 9:36

You see the heart of Jesus best through images such as shepherding (holding you like a little lamb), having pity for crowds of hurting people, lifting heavy burdens, teaching us, giving us rest, and representing sinful people before almighty God. These are marks of gentleness.

God’s Promise

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29
