Faith

Faith

I know I’m supposed to have faith in God, but it seems so complicated. How can I ever have faith?

God’s Response

Jesus ignored their comments and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just trust me.” Mark 5:36

I have stilled and quieted myself, just as a small child is quiet with its mother. Yes, like a small child is my soul within me. Psalm 131:2

Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding the truth from those who think themselves so wise and clever, and for revealing it to the childlike.” Matthew 11:25

We often make faith in God more complicated than it really is. Faith simply means trusting God to do what he has promised. The problem comes when we get confused over exactly what he has promised. Studying God’s promises in the Bible is a great use of your time. Then you will develop a childlike confidence in God as you see all the promises he has fulfilled and anticipate the ones yet to come.

God’s Promise

He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”

“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.

Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who haven’t seen me and believe anyway.” John 20:27-29
