Compliments

Why is it important to compliment others?

God’s Response

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. I always pray for you, and I make my requests with a heart full of joy. Philippians 1:3-4

As we talk to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and your continual anticipation of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 1:3

Dear brothers and sisters, we always thank God for you, as is right, for we are thankful that your faith is flourishing and you are all growing in love for each other. 2 Thessalonians 1:3

Paul thought it was very important to compliment the believers in the various churches on the spiritual growth he saw in them. The way his love for them overflows in his words is a model for us. You can do the same, encouraging others about their spiritual growth or about any other aspect of their lives. Criticism tears others down; compliments build them up. Who couldn’t use an uplifting compliment?

God’s Promise

Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. Proverbs 12:25
