Boundaries

Boundaries

I know I can avoid burnout if I set some boundaries for myself. But how do I do that?

God’s Response

Our goal is to stay within the boundaries of God’s plan for us. 2 Corinthians 10:13

If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. Ecclesiastes 11:4

Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged. Matthew 7:1-2

God gives us very clear boundaries for living the Christian life. These are not meant to keep us from having fun, but to protect us. The same principle applies to our normal, everyday lives. Without boundaries, chaos reigns, we get burned out, and we suffer. To avoid burnout in this busy season, you must set some boundaries. Start by making a list of what you must do and what you’d like to do. Then start scratching things off your list until you feel you will have enough time to enjoy your family and the joy of the season. Freeing yourself from the trap of incessant activity requires asking for help and learning to say no —even to worthwhile activities.

God’s Promise

There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
