A Son Is Given

Why did God have to give his son as a sacrifice for us?

God’s Response

A child is born to us, a son is given to us. Isaiah 9:6

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

If you are a parent, you know you would do anything for your child’s welfare, even to the point of death. To save your child’s life, you would gladly give up yours. Yet God did the unthinkable —he gave up his only child! He purposely and willingly sent Jesus to earth to live as a human, and to experience the same joy and pain that we do. But then he was tortured and crucified and punished for our sins so we wouldn’t have to experience that. Could you make such a sacrifice? That is the ultimate sacrifice of love. Don’t let such lavish love be wasted. Accept God’s gift of salvation and embrace the Christ child with all your heart.

God’s Promise

God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love. 1 John 4:9-10
