Weekly Worship
Should I go to church? Do I have to go every week?
God’s Response
When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath. Luke 4:16
He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. . . . Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?”“O Sovereign LORD,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.”Then he said to me, . . . “I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.” Ezekiel 37:2-6
If anyone might have found church a little boring, it was Jesus. Imagine being God and attending a church service! Yet Jesus went “as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath.” The Bible makes it clear that getting together to worship with other believers is essential to a Christian’s life. Maybe your church is boring. Maybe it’s no better than old, dry bones. Realize that God has the power to bring life even to what seems dead. He also has the power to change your perspective about church. Pray for your church, your pastor, and yourself. Be a part of what’s alive—who knows what impact you’ll have!
