God’s Response

You have heard the commandment that says, “You must not commit adultery.” But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28

Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! Matthew 6:22-23

From the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. Matthew 15:19

The heart is the center of your passions, desires, and beliefs. From your heart come your thoughts and actions. Since all people are born with a sinful nature (Romans 3:23), the heart is naturally corrupt. Therefore, to replace your sinful nature with God’s new nature, you must deliberately exclude anything that takes the place of God. He cannot occupy your heart and redeem it if someone or something else already lives there that you are more passionate about. Is God affecting your thoughts and actions, or are you allowing something else to control you?
