Can I stay close to God when I’m suffering?

God’s Response

Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Isaiah 43:1-2

Jesus suffered, so he understands what you’re going through. Trust that no matter what happens, God has not forgotten you. Nothing that happens comes as a surprise to him. Think about it—he’s the only one who knows why the suffering is happening and what he plans to teach you through it. If you stay close to him, you won’t be floundering around wondering. You’ll be in the right place to be comforted and taught.
