How often should I read my Bible?

God’s Response

He must always keep that copy [of the law] with him and read it daily as long as he lives. . . . This regular reading will prevent him from becoming proud and acting as if he is above his fellow citizens. It will also prevent him from turning away from these commands in the smallest way. Deuteronomy 17:19-20

God required the king of Israel to copy the law onto a scroll that he would keep with him and read “daily as long as he lives.” Because the Bible is a living document through which God speaks, daily reading is important so that God can communicate with you. It’s easy to become distracted and lose touch with him. Reading God’s Word every day keeps you close to the One who created you for a purpose, who knows you intimately, and who can guide you along the best pathway for your life.
