How I do go about making plans for the year ahead?

God’s Response

David [said,] . . . “It was my desire to build a temple. . . . I made the necessary preparations for building it, but God said to me, ‘You must not build a temple.’ ” 1 Chronicles 28:2-3

David gave Solomon the plans for the Temple. 1 Chronicles 28:11

“Every part of this plan,” David told Solomon, “was given to me in writing from the hand of the LORD.” 1 Chronicles 28:19

I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. 1 Chronicles 29:17

It is interesting that God didn’t want David to build the Temple, just to plan it and gather the materials. You may not be planning a magnificent building, but the work God has for you is just as important. Like David, make sure your plans are in tune with God’s intentions for you. When making your plans, don’t forget what is most important—stay close to God through Bible study, prayer, fellowship with other believers, and service. Do what is right and take responsibility for your sins. When you do these things first, God’s more detailed plan for you will become clearer.

This Is Promising

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
