More Joy
More Joy
How can I be more joyful?
God’s Response
Let the godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God’s presence. Let them be filled with joy. Psalm 68:3
I know the LORD is always with me. . . . No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. Psalm 16:8-9
You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. 1 Peter 1:8
Joy is your response to that which delights you. The more real and lasting the delight, the more joy you will experience. Nothing could be more real and lasting than a relationship with Jesus Christ, who loved you enough to die for you and who offers you everlasting life. Your feelings may go up and down, but real joy runs so deep that nothing can take it away. You know that God loves you, that he created you for a reason, and that your future is set—you will live forever in heaven with no more sin, pain, or trouble. You can be more joyful by purposely celebrating all these certainties promised to you by God.
This Is Promising
Those who have been ransomed by the LORD will . . . be filled with joy and gladness. Isaiah 51:11
