Just A Date?

Just a Date?

Can I date someone who isn’t a Christian?

God’s Response

When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you. . . . Do not let your daughters and sons marry their sons and daughters, for they will lead your children away from me to worship other gods. Deuteronomy 7:1-4

While the verses above applied specifically to the ancient nation of Israel, they give an important principle for us to follow. Someone who is not a Christian will have different values than someone who is. If you are a Christian, God has called you to him for a special purpose, and you have committed to living by the standards of the Bible. Going on a date with an unbeliever is one thing, but dating an unbeliever can put you in a difficult position. You might find yourself falling in love and then you just won’t see things clearly. Don’t put yourself in a position where you may be tempted to compromise your faith. As you look toward marriage, you need a helpmate who will encourage you to accomplish your work for God.

This Is Promising

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
