Can I have an impact on my community?
God’s Response
The whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14
Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law. Romans 13:8
Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. 1 Peter 2:12
You can have the greatest effect on your community by genuinely loving others, serving them, and remaining faithful to God. It sounds simple, but it actually takes a lot of effort. It’s much easier to be selfish and do things to please yourself, but you won’t have a good reputation if you consistently live in a selfish way. If your actions and words reflect Jesus to others, even hostile people will end up praising God and respecting you. You will be refreshing to those around you and they will be drawn to you. You may be the only Christian they know—be a good example of Christ to them.
