He Hears
He Hears
Does God really hear me when I pray?
God’s Response
King Sennacherib . . . sent messengers . . . with this message . . . “This message is for King Hezekiah of Judah. Don’t let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you with promises that Jerusalem will not be captured by the king of Assyria. You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different? Have the gods of other nations rescued them?” . . .After Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it, he went up to the LORD’s Temple and spread it out before the LORD. 2 Kings 19:9-14
King Sennacherib didn’t think that the God of the little nation of Judah would be any different from the gods of the other nations he had conquered. He was wrong. King Hezekiah wasn’t praying to just any old god, but to the God of the universe. Hezekiah knew his God answered prayer, so he took his problem and spread it out before the Lord. You can do the same, knowing that he hears and will answer.
This Is Promising
I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Psalm 116:1
