Hard To Wait

Sometimes I get really tired of waiting for things and of waiting on God. Will God help me develop patience?

God’s Response

Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all his wealth. . . . Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” Genesis 12:4-5, 7

The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised. She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. . . . Abraham was one hundred years old when Isaac was born. Genesis 21:1-2, 5

If you do the math in these Bible verses, you’ll discover that twenty-five years passed between God’s promise and when he actually fulfilled it! No wonder Sarah made a few mistakes along the way, hoping to help God out. God will give you his answers when he’s ready, and when he is ready, the timing will be best for you, too. The best way to develop patience is to exercise it. God sometimes makes you wait because he wants you to learn to trust him in the meantime.
