Good Fruit

Good Fruit

What character qualities does God want me to have?

God’s Response

The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. . . . Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:22-25

A young, unripe apple falls to the ground in a storm. No longer connected to the tree, it is cut off from nourishment and will never become the big, juicy apple it was meant to be. On the ground, it will rot rather than mature. We are like an apple on the tree when we remain connected to Jesus. The Holy Spirit will help us and produce the fruit of God’s character—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and much more. As your fruit matures, you will get better at obeying God and resisting the storms of life. This will only happen as you remain joined to him (see John 15:4-5).

This Is Promising

When your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:4
