Disobedience

Does my disobedience hurt God? Does it hurt me?

God’s Response

The people of Israel rebelled against me, and they refused to obey my decrees. . . . They wouldn’t obey my regulations even though obedience would have given them life. . . . I made plans to utterly consume them in the wilderness. But again I held back in order to protect the honor of my name before the nations who had seen my power in bringing Israel out of Egypt. But I took a solemn oath against them in the wilderness. I swore I would not bring them into the land I had given them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful place on earth. Ezekiel 20:13-15

When the Bible talks about disobedience, it means a consistent lifestyle of ignoring God or a regular habit of not doing what God says is right. Disobedience hurts God because he wants to give you a life full of good things. Ignoring that means that you don’t really care enough to get to know God or see what he has planned for you. It hurts you because when you disobey, you forfeit God’s best for you and potentially endanger your eternal future.
