Are demons real?

God’s Response

The devil . . . was thrown down to the earth with all his angels. Revelation 12:9

Jesus rebuked the demon in the boy, and it left him. From that moment the boy was well. Matthew 17:18

A man possessed by a demon—an evil spirit—began shouting at Jesus. Luke 4:33

The demons kept begging Jesus not to send them into the bottomless pit. Luke 8:31

Demons are fallen angels who joined Satan in his rebellion against God and are now evil spirits under Satan’s control. They help Satan tempt people to sin and have great destructive powers, although they are not able to read your mind and cannot be everywhere at once. Demons are real and active, but Jesus has authority over them and he gave this authority to his followers. Satan and his demons will eventually be thrown into the lake of fire, forever ending their evil work in the world.
