Chameleon Faith
Chameleon Faith
What can prevent me from maturing in my faith?
God’s Response
Joash did what was pleasing in the LORD’s sight throughout the lifetime of Jehoiada the priest. . . . But after Jehoiada’s death, the leaders of Judah . . . persuaded him to listen to their advice. They decided to abandon the Temple of the LORD . . . and they worshiped Asherah poles and idols instead! Because of this sin, divine anger fell on Judah and Jerusalem. 2 Chronicles 24:2, 17-18
You will not mature in your faith if your faith is not of your own choosing. You can’t piggyback on your parents’ faith or assume that just showing up at church is good enough. Chameleon faith is no faith at all. If you change to accommodate those around you, you will be immature like Joash, and your faith will lack depth and strength. If you want to be more mature, follow God because you sincerely want to and not because someone else is pressuring you. Don’t let your commitment change with circumstances.
This Is Promising
You, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith. Jude 1:20
