Why is it important to give our best to God?

God’s Response

Be sure to give to the LORD the best portions of the gifts given to you. Numbers 18:29

Honor the LORD . . . with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain. Proverbs 3:9-10

God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. John 3:16

What does it mean to give your best to God? It means giving him the first part of any income you make. It means giving him time when you are alert and refreshed, and scheduling time to serve him instead of just trying to fit him in somewhere. It means trying your hardest to follow Jesus’ example in how you live each day. You don’t have to walk around quoting Bible verses all the time, but you should find out what God has called you to do (right now it’s to be a student, but someday maybe you will be a carpenter, nurse, or pastor), and go for it with all you’ve got. Giving your best to God shows that God is first in your life.

This Is Promising

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
