A Dull Conscience

Why does it seem that some people don’t even have a conscience?

God’s Response

A murderer’s tormented conscience will drive him into the grave. Don’t protect him! Proverbs 28:17

These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead. 1 Timothy 4:2

Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. Titus 1:15

Everybody has a conscience, but some have become so dulled to its urgings that they don’t or can’t hear it. The conscience is like a muscle that must be exercised and developed. Even people who have done horrible deeds still have a conscience, but over time they have learned to tune it out. When you sin, you go against your conscience. If you don’t listen to your conscience, it will eventually become calloused and insensitive to sin. Then you are in danger of not being able to hear God’s voice when he warns you of danger.
