How powerful is Satan?

God’s Response

“All right, do with him as you please,” the LORD said to Satan. “But spare his life.” Job 2:6

Satan was there at the angel’s right hand, accusing Jeshua of many things. And the LORD said to Satan, “I, the LORD, reject your accusations, Satan.” Zechariah 3:1-2

At one time the most beautiful of all the angels, Satan became proud, sinned against God, and was cast out of heaven (Revelation 12:9). As a created being, Satan has definite limitations—for example, Satan does not share God’s attributes of omniscience (all-knowing), omnipresence (being everywhere at all times) and omnipotence (all-powerful). He is God’s enemy, but he is not God’s equal. As God’s enemy, he tries to prevent people from believing in God. For those who are already believers, Satan’s ultimate weapon is division. If Satan can get God’s people to fight with one another, he will have no worries about God’s Kingdom advancing. Although God has allowed Satan certain power and influence to tempt and even destroy, Satan will not be the final victor.
