Responsibility
Responsibility
How can I do the right things more often?
God’s Response
It was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit, and I ate it. Genesis 3:12
[Pilate] sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this man. The responsibility is yours!” Matthew 27:24
Don’t try to avoid responsibility by saying you didn’t know about it. For God knows all hearts, and he sees you. He keeps watch over your soul, and he knows you knew! Proverbs 24:12
When confronted by God for his sin, Adam’s first response was to blame Eve. Pilate also tried to deflect responsibility for sentencing Jesus to death. Unfortunately, that is often the pattern in our world. Few people take responsibility for their own actions; they prefer to blame someone or something else. God says that you are responsible for your own conduct. Be courageous—take responsibility for yourself, and you will be more motivated to do what is right.
God’s Challenge
We are each responsible for our own conduct. Galatians 6:5
