Remembrance

How can remembering God help me in my spiritual walk?

God’s Response

You must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting up again. Tie them to your hands as a reminder, and wear them on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Moses reminded the people to take every opportunity of every day to remember God’s Word and to tell family and friends of God’s past help and blessings. If you do this each day you will strengthen your love and commitment to God, and this will motivate you to be even more faithful in following days. God helps you to fight and to win life’s battles. Remember God the first thing in the morning and as you fall asleep at night. Remember God as the source of the hope you think you’ve lost. Remember God with a thankful heart when you have plenty, for you will need him when you have little. Weave him into the fabric of your life and your spiritual walk will be strong and focused.

God’s Promise

If you keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law—the law that sets you free—and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. James 1:25
