Recovery
Recovery
How do I recover when I have given in to temptation?
God’s Response
Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me again the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach your ways to sinners, and they will return to you. . . . You would not be pleased with sacrifices, or I would bring them. . . . The sacrifice you want is a broken spirit. A broken and repentant heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:11-13, 16-17
God’s grace is greater than your failure. Temptation only wins when it keeps you from turning back to God. No matter how often you fail, God welcomes you back through the love of Jesus Christ. Recovery begins when you return to God. He will not despise your broken and repentant heart. He promises to welcome you back, to forgive you, and to help you start over.
God’s Promise
It was necessary for Jesus to be in every respect like us. . . . He then could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:17
