How does prayer help me to tap into God’s power?

God’s Response

Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. . . . For everyone who asks, receives. . . . If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:7-8, 11

There’s more to prayer than just getting an answer. As you persist in prayer, you gain a greater understanding of yourself and your motivations, and whether or not they are aligned with God’s direction for your life. God wants to use you in bringing about his will in the world, and this involves your seeking his will and not your own. Communication with God through prayer is necessary if you want his power for living.

God’s Challenge

Pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. James 5:16
